Jonathan Law offensive lineman Jack Lefevre is an island of leadership to those in the trenches this season. In fact, he is the only senior starting lineman on the team, which has posted an 8-2 record this season. Thanks to that success, Lefevre and the Law program earned the No. 4 seed for this week’s CIAC Class SS state tournament game and will host No. 5 Ledyard on Tuesday, at 6:30 p.m., in Milford. Said Law football coach Ryan Pearson of Lefevre, a senior captain: “Being the only senior out of that crew, it’s young kids and you got to be the role model for those kids. This is it for him and whether it’s one game or three games left for him, he’s got to make sure when he leaves that crew, when he comes back next year to watch them, they are making him proud and he left a good note behind.” After practice on Saturday, Lefevre took some time to go “On The Record” with the Milford Sports Blog.

MILFORD SPORTS BLOG: What does it mean to you to be a Jonathan Law football player?

JACK LEFEVRE: It means the world to be a Jonathan Law football player. There’s something different about this program. It’s so special I can’t explain it

MSB: How did you wind up playing football instead of one of the other sports? What led you to the gridiron?

JL: Ever since a young age, when I was able to pickup a football, I’ve just always fallen in love with it. Never thought I’d play Offensive Line but i love playing it

MSB: You are the only senior offensive lineman who starts. What does that mean to you to be a leader for this group?

JL: There’s definitely a sense of pressure, being the only senior offensive lineman, as everyone relies on me: Other O-linemen, my coaches, etc, but I absolutely love that pressure. I love being the only player and leader everyone relies on.

MSB: What is the toughest part about being an offensive lineman?

JL: Toughest part of being an offensive lineman is that all five guys have to do their job perfectly in order for the play to work.

MSB: How do you—and other lineman throughout the entire football world—deal with the fact you rarely, if ever, get any public glory when your team scores a touchdown?

JL: We deal with it by picking each other up on the sidelines. We may not get the spotlight but being on the sideline and everyone is happy we scored or had a big play, we can’t bring the morale down just because we didn’t get the spotlight. We gotta stay up.

MSB: Why do you wear uniform No. 52?

JL: I wear No. 52 for my personal idol, being a Packers fan—Clay Matthews

MSB: Do you have any pre-game hype music that you listen to while getting ready for a game?

JL: I listen to a lot of Drake and just hype rap music to pump myself up.

MSB: Do you have any superstitions or rituals leading up to kick off?

JL: I wear the same pair of (washed) underwear before each game and I lip sync the national anthem.

MSB: Let’s switch gears on you now. What is the best thing about Jonathan Law High School?

JL: The best thing about Jonathan Law is everyone is basically a big family here and you could talk to someone about anything.

MSB: If you could change one thing about the school, what would it be?

JL: If I could change one thing, it’d be the portions at lunchtime … big boys gotta eat

MSB: Who is your hero?

JL: My hero is my dad.

MSB: If you could get one do-over in life, what would you pick?

JL: If I had one do-over, I would grind this sport and be the best I could at tight end, and not resort to offensive line.

MSB: If you could visit one place in the world for a week, where would it be and why?

JL: If I could go to one place, I’d go to Hawaii because the beaches are really nice and I’d want to experience the volcanos and Hawaiian theme.

MSB: What is your perfect breakfast?

JL: My perfect breakfast is steak, eggs, hash browns, and a big glass of apple juice.

MSB: And, your favorite home-cooked meal?

JL: My favorite home cooked meal is my mom’s spaghetti.

MSB: How about the perfect late-night snack?

JL: A perfect late night snack is a bowl of cereal, bag of chips, and a seltzer.

MSB: Where do you hope to be, and what do you hope to be doing, in 20 years?

JL: I hope to live in Connecticut with my loving wife and be a PT assistant, making a ton of money, with three kids.

MSB: What one word best describes Jack Lefevre?

JL: Grit.
